Inventory and Packing Specialist
Per Diem Position
Position Summary
Responsible to maintain accurate inventory levels and to ensure that equipment and inventory is present, and are packed and ready to be used on medical missions.
Qualifications
REQUIRED 2+ years’ experience in the field of medicine and/or surgery
Familiarity with medical equipment and supplies
Demonstrates the ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions and solves problems.
Shows the ability to work well under pressure, such as when inventory deliveries become late
Has sound judgement
Possesses effective written and verbal communications
Basic computer operating knowledge-Microsoft word and Excel
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, patients, and clients
Ability to follow precise direction, instructions, and accounting protocols
Ability to work with volunteers
Ability to take direction and follow through on assignments and responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
Establishes, inventories and maintains adequate par levels of materials to conduct a safe and productive mission
Works with director to estimate patient case load to verify proper supplies and equipment are available
Trains volunteers in material counting, organizing and inventory control
Maintain physical inventory and conduct physical counts after each mission completion
Plan to purchase items by verifying dates, specifications and price
Work with supply committee to get as many items donated as possible before purchasing
Assists with financial management of supply costs. Works with LHSC purchasing agent to procure the best pricing available
Keeps detailed and accurate records by sorting and filing supply lists and inventory counts on the Shared Drive
Pack all supplies for each mission to meet the customs regulations for each country (ie: expiration dates and lot numbers).
Submit all required product and inventory lists to customs and our host hospital.
Pack all necessary equipment and supplies for each mission to ensure continuum of care preoperative, perioperative and post operative.
Collaborates effectively with other disciplines as appropriate
Physical Demands of Job
· Ability to work under stress, moderate periods of sitting, walking, standing and computer use.
· Pushing and pulling heavy objects
· Full range of body motion including handling boxes and mission luggage
· Manual and finger dexterity
· Hand and eye coordination
· Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
· Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds
· Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
All duties and responsibilities stated are essential job functions. Staff member may be required to perform additional job-related duties as assigned by management.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 – $22.00 per hour
