Description
The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) and the Management Services Division (MSD) within The Aging and Long Term Support Administration (ALTSA) are looking to fill the IT Quality Assurance – Journey role.
The position is a one-year project-appointed IT Quality Assurance Software tester and will focus on the Business Analysis & Application Unit (BAAU) software application solutions. The project runs from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.
In this role, you’ll test a new custom-built online web application used to process applications from applicants seeking residential licensure or certification from DSHS. You will also analyze business requirements, design documents, models and diagrams for completeness and testability.
This role designs and executes test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test data and test scripts based on software requirements and technical specifications and reviews test plans/scripts written by other staff to ensure coverage of all testing activities.
Some of what you will do:
IT Application Quality Assurance
Define, develop acceptance criteria to test the user stories and ensure system quality to meet the business requirements (business process, data needs, usability, etc.,)
Analyze system requirements and create test plans, test cases and scripts
Lead design review sessions, detailed review and validation of design documentation, and overall facilitation of stakeholder design review and approvals
Results Tracking and Reporting
Monitor tracking tool
Research and document bug reports
Develop tracking systems and update test execution status
Manage User Acceptance Testing
Management of user acceptance testing efforts
Coordination of resources and business users performing user acceptance testing
Develop reports on test progress for project management staff and stakeholders
Desired:
Knowledge of SharePoint, Issue tracking tools like JIRA and Requirements management tools
At least 2 years experience in a software testing environment using iterative (agile) methodologies
Experience in a government, social services environment
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak technical terms to a non-technical audience
Ability to work with stakeholders to identify and understand their needs, concerns, and working environment
Ability to formulate routines and standards of practice to complete assigned tasks
Strength to use good judgment, think clearly, analyze complex technical situations, lead and work with program-solving teams and determine the appropriate resolution to problems.
Who should apply?
Professionals with a bachelor’s degree in either computer science, business administration, or management of information systems or equivalent work experience AND a minimum of five years’ experience in this or a related field.
A minimum of five or more years of information technology experience, or a closely related field such as consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, and/or maintaining computer software applications or directing projects.
Advanced skills in testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. Must have 3 years (experience may be concurrent with the above)
