Job Description :
Mott MacDonald is looking for a Health & Safety Manager for a Rail Systems Construction Management Project in Seattle. The responsibilities will include working on the overall Project Health and Safety strategy, checking the contractor’s adherence to the approved Health & Safety Plans and ensuring that the Contractor is compliant with all relevant Safety Regulations. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the tasks below:
Daily, weekly and monthly reporting
Convening, preparing and running safety meetings internally and externally with in the Project
Arrange and Chair Incident Review Meetings immediately after all Health & Safety incidents and all follow up meetings; prepare and distribute meeting minutes for all meetings
Review, and evaluate, all incident reports for adequacy of justification and corrective actions
Prepare and run a monthly “All Hands” CMC staff meeting, focusing on Health and Safety for the CMC staff
Instruct employees on the recognition of hazards, observance of precautions, and the use Personal Protective Equipment
Work with the Contractor to proactively ensure that the Program Health and Safety Plan that has been developed is continuously updated and remains compliant to the Contract
Monitor the Contractor’s implementation of the Program Health and Safety plan
Monitor and audit the Contractor training sessions with their employees
Conduct monthly Safety audits on the Contractors Health and Safety Program, with emphasis on Training, Reporting, Preventative Actions and Incident investigations
Review of Construction Work Plans (CWP)
Regular Safety compliance tours followed by a report detailing the findings, hazards, and/or violations discovered during the tour
Be available to provide consultation in Safety related issues whenever necessary
Participate in contractors internal Safety audits
Management and organizational oversight of Health and Safety Inspectors. Manage staffing engagement, motivation and deployment for the team to ensure ongoing quality of service to Clients in accordance with the consultancy agreement.
Provide technical and team leadership through excellent example, good team leadership characteristics, innovation, collaboration and decisive action.
Motivate teams to excel in delivery of Health and Safety Managerial services, on-time performance and development of positive Client relationships.
Provide detailed analysis and solutions to emerging managerial and other Health and Safety problems.
Provide expertise in the preparation and production of contract documentation relating to Health and Safety.
Candidate will have the following qualifications:
10-15 years of Railway Construction and Installation experience
5+ years of Health and Safety relating to Rail Projects.
Proven team leader with refined staffing, development and deployment skills with experience with supervision on Rail projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong literacy in Microsoft Office software package (Power Point presentation development essential)
Able to work collaboratively with the team and client
Focus on client requirements including technical, schedule and budget
Experience with Sound Transit Projects is desired
