Job Description :
Under general supervision, the Dietary Technician promotes health and wellness in an effort to prevent disease. Develops effective nutritional plans through coordination of food service activities and the nutrition care process of Health Services assuring the delivery of dietary/nutritional care effectively and efficiently meets the needs of residents. As a representative and team member of the company, this position is expected to present oneself in a manner that reflects professionalism and ensures resident satisfaction.
Essential Functions
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Work Duties

Works with RD to insure all charts and medical records are up to date and followed by team members. Monitors all diet changes to insure compliance.
Reviews resident diet information and discusses requests, changes, and inconsistencies with resident and staff.
Review dietary intake records, do visual meal rounds and document food intake.
Reviews resident medical chart to obtain diet and medical history.
Perform initial resident interview, gather food preferences, explain diet order to resident, and assist with meal planning and proper adherence to diet. Discuss requests, changes and inconsistencies with resident and staff.
Assist with monitoring of weekly weight and skin status of residents. Effectively communicate nutrition recommendations to health care and kitchen team, serve as liaison between resident and dining services.
Records/charts resident nutritional history, assessments and significant changes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education –

Associates degree or equivalent experience, Diet Technician Certification

Experience/Training –

Minimum of one-year experience, preferably in a hospital or nursing home or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations –

Accreditation/ Registration through ADA preferred.
