When accepting a position with Bellevue Montessori School, Activity Club Program, Assistant agrees to aid the teachers in working toward these goals, and to collaborate with the staff in providing a nurturing environment. The Assistant facilitates the comprehensive development of all students by interacting positively, confidently and respectfully with all children, families and staff members.
Role: Activity Club Program Assistant
Campus: MAIN
Reports To: Marnie Stromseth, Early Childhood Program Director & Susan Jahns, Early Childhood Program Coordinator and Healthy & Safety Assistant
Daily Hours: Monday to Friday, 12PM to 6PM (including a 30 minute unpaid lunch break)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Job Responsibilities:

Assists in the implementation and execution of a daily program which will meet the needs of the children in the Activity Club; sets up program, projects, and activity as needed.
Collaborates and assists the Early Childhood Program Coordinator in designing the activities to encourage children’s intellectual, creative, and physical growth.
Monitors individuals or small groups of students assigned to an Activity Club Classroom; assures children have a developmental appropriate understanding of program rules and procedures; maintains appropriate order and student conduct in a warm friendly manner.
Used Positive Discipline strategies and assists in implementing student expectations. Showing respect for self, others and the surrounding environment. Refers serious discipline issues to the program supervisor.
Interacts and builds individual relationships with children in an effort to build self-esteem and form a comfort level with their peers; answers student questions, provides proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance.
Assists with the development and coordination of a calendar for program activities and events designed to complement student learning and enrichment.
Supervises specific prep and cleaning activities for the Activity Club assistants.
Maintains a clean and organized environment for students; demonstrates and involves students in cleaning and organizing the program activities areas before, during, and after use.
Performs a variety of low level clerical duties in support of program activities such as Incident/Accident Reports and Attendance Logs. Records relevant information to share with classroom teachers; answers telephones (if required)
Offers and rotates a variety of after school manipulatives, puzzles, games and arts and crafts supplies.
Reports to work with punctual and reliable attendance and punctuality.
Inspects playground and facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying necessary repairs due to equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.

Education and Experience:

High School graduate or equivalency or at least 18 years of age and working towards a teaching or montessori credential
Preferred 1 to 2 years of working experience in an afterschool program or
Comparable work with children such as nannying, babysitting, etc.
Experience working with Google drive and other platforms

Requirements:

Able to lift up to 25lbs
Able to stand for long periods of time
Passionate working with children
Patient, calm, kind and understanding
Team player
Strong attendance, punctuality, and flexibility
Able to work in the US
Complete the DCYF requirements (able to provide Portable Background Check, CPR/First Aid, proof of TB/Measles, Covid-19 vaccinations, Food Handler’s permit, Borne Blood Pathogens, and complete the initial 30 hour basic child course)
