About us
Fresh Every Thyme is a personal chef and catering business in Seattle. We are a team of chefs who work together to produce healthy and fresh meals for clients each week. The menu shifts every week so you won’t get bored with making the same dish and you’ll get to bring your creativity in preparing meals. You’ll regularly modify recipes to match our client’s preferences and make each meal personal to the client.

Daytime hours with some flexibility (Sunday-Wednesday/Thursday)
We are looking for a detail oriented, chef, or aspiring chef, to join us on the team. You come with a desire to cook high quality dishes that you’d be proud to serve at any dinner party, even if you’re making scrambled eggs. You are able to read a recipe, as written, and figure out how to modify it to meet multiple client’s preference. Followed by executing the dish and plating it for delivery.

Your experience can come from being a home cook, to skills learned on-the-job, to being professionally trained. Speed is great but attention to detail, and there are a lot of details, is key. You are also able to work well with a variety of people and manage your time in a shared kitchen and within our small team. The work and menu changes every week. This is not a typical production service you may find in a restaurant. While we do have some larger catering events we are typically cooking small-batches of dishes for individual clients.
Compensation:
Hourly pay of $23-$26, depend on experience
Transportation reimbursement: $100 a month for full time employees (35-40 hours/week) or $50 for part time (20-30 hours/week)
Free on-site parking (about 10 spaces on a first come, first serve basis)
Job Details:
We are looking for part time (20-30 hours a week) or full time (35-40 hours a week). The hours are flexible where you’ll work from Sunday to Wednesday and either 8 or 10 hours shifts. Typically we work during the morning however there is flexibility, to work an evening shift.
Responsibilities
Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans and kitchen scales
Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients
Cook food in a timely manner
Keep your workstation clean and tidy and keep shared equipment cleaned and available to everyone
Ensure appealing plate presentation
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area
Work extremely well with others, showing respect for everyone’s time and equipment
Skills
Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment (knives, appliances, etc.)
Experienced cook (home or professionally trained), with baking and pastry experience a plus
Able to manage multiple recipes at once. (Such as having one dish in progress on the stove and prepping a second one)
Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
Excellent time management abilities
Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes
Familiarity with sanitation regulations
Culinary school diploma or equivalent experience is a bonus
Desired Skills & Experience:
Great communicator, who can accurately and easily communicate to the team, a clients’ special meal requirements and make sure meals are made exactly as they should be standards and cooking methods to staff.
Extremely confident and comfortable working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented kitchen environment.
Incorporates creativity into food preparation.
Respect for your work space as well as all the shared workspaces in the kitchen. Also able to manage around other business’ peak production requirements.
Take the care to cook for each individual client as if they were your own family or a guest at your dinner table.
Must be able to adjust to changing menus every week.
Strong ability to work under pressure with little supervision and ability to stay calm and focused in all situations.
Basic computer skills, and other technologies to include printers and smartphones.
Fun, high-energy and brings a positive attitude to the kitchen.
Someone who is organized and works well in a team environment.
