General Job Description
The Digital Workstation Technician has responsibility for efficiently providing quality pre-flight and retouching to meet on-time delivery to the customer. This requires effective and timely communication on job status or issues, accurate and appropriate pre-flight skills, and timely submission of job pre-flights to appropriate individuals.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Responsible for

Properly understanding the written information presented on the job ticket.
Understanding the workflow and processes within Image Craft, LLC
Preflight – accurately and in accordance with job specifications using critical thinking skills to monitor and correct problems with printability.
Promptly notifying Digital Lead, Manager or CSR of problems with jobs.
Page layout – Create or correct layouts that will RIP and print correctly.
Color correction – View color with correct output profile applied; make local color moves using masks and other techniques.

Solid experience/understanding of and ability to solve issues on:

Retouching techniques (color, exposure, optimization, enhancement, etc.)
Bleeds
Printable gamuts
Conversion of color spaces: CYMK to RGB and vice versa
Missing linked documents
Missing or modified fonts
Proportion to correct size
Gradients
Rip issue problems
Color or swatch matching
Flattened files

Understanding of Printer Parameters – Materials that can be run, print size limitations, etc.

Digital Photographic Imagers
Inkjet Printers: Solvent, Pigment, Dye, Eco-Solvent
Direct to Substrate Printing
Fine Art/Giclee printing versus Grand Format

Adherence to quality standards of the department
Job duties include flexibility to take on additional or varying responsibilities as needed
Proactively learns new software and advances knowledge and skills of digital applications

Requirements

Computer skills – Solid Knowledge & Experience In:

Adobe Creative Suite
Font Management software
Preflight Software
Color management software

Highly organized
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent proofing skills
Multi-tasking ability
Strong attention to details
Sense of Urgency

Qualifications

Successful completion, with certificate, of training in desktop publishing software preferred
2 years prior experience in pre-press in digital printing or commercial printing environment
Prior experience in a print production environment, preferably grand format digital printing

Physical Requirements

Additional duties and responsibilities as requested.
Position requires sitting or standing at computer monitor
