Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Laboratory Assistant at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. You will be more than a phlebotomist! We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:

You will provide courteous and caring customer service and support to patients, family members, physicians, and their office staff.
You will obtain specimens through venipuncture and capillary collection techniques, and process those and other specimens so as to be ready for testing within the laboratory.
You will process reference lab specimens for shipment, ensuring quality and acceptable turn-around-times.
You will verify documentation on incoming orders and maintain necessary logs.
You will transcribe written orders for outpatient specimens and ensuring test results are sent to the ordering physician.
You will train new employees and others in specimen receiving duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Certification in phlebotomy highly preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Good computer skills; filing/clerical skills; self-discipline in organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
Prior specimen receiving experience preferred.
One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
Course in medical terminology preferred.
Excellent communication skills.
