Job Description :
Establish and manage externship sites: Externship sites are developed in a number of ways; word of mouth, referral by another site or a student, advisory board member, employers and contacting potential sites directly. A meeting is scheduled with the site to discuss the benefits of the Alaska Career College Externship partnership. Extern locations are assigned giving preference to student requests as they are available.
Schedule Student Externs for the Medical Assistant Specialist, Phlebotomy Technician Specialist, Medical Insurance Coding and Billing Specialist and Business programs.
Prepare and review Externship Site Agreements annually. Revise as appropriate.
Maintain Externship Site Agreement filing system. A file folder for each program with the current affiliation agreement and the previous years if appropriate for each site is maintained.
Provide Alaska Career College and Student Liability Insurance to externship sites annually and/or as needed.
Monitor externship site for quality by visiting each site a minimum of once during each student’s externship experience.
Schedule and coordinate students at externship sites.
Conduct Externship Orientation in a group setting and one on one as needed.
Track student externship performance, evaluations and time sheets weekly.
Receive, review and grade Student Externship Reports, performance evaluations and time sheets.
Conduct a Site Visit for each student a minimum of once during their externship experience.
Meet with and advise externship site management and students during externship as problems arise.
Conduct externship exit interview with each student.

Education:
High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
In-field; work and/or instructional: 3 years (Required)
License/Certification:
Certified Medical Assistant (Required)
