Job Description :
Pilot has the best employees in the transportation and logistics industry!Essential Functions: Understand and comply with all State, Federal, DOT and TSA regulationsCheck in with dispatch daily for assigned pickup/delivery routeOperate vehicles to transport materials to and from in a safe and efficient mannerPresent self in a clean and professional manner at all timesPilot identification including but not limited to ID badge and or required Pilot apparelPerform inspection of the assigned unit and complete all required paperworkEnsure equipment is kept in proper repair and working orderClean and secure assigned unit and the end of shiftComplete DOT logs if requiredLoad and unload freight from truck utilizing the proper equipment and securing for transit when necessaryCheck for and notate/communicate damages/shortages or other exceptionsMaintain communication with dispatch, promptly report all delaysFunction and use of driver’s application for all pickups and deliveriesVerify all freight corresponds to paperworkAssist and apply additional packing to shipments when neededAssist in the warehouse if neededAble to work variable hours, including weekends and overtimeClocking in/out daily (including lunch breaks) and maintaining lunch/break schedule independently.Other duties assigned deemed necessary by the Cartage SupervisorSKILLS/COMPETENCIES: Must have clean motor vehicle recordAble to apply basic problem-solving skillsAbility to read and interpret mapsStrong knowledge of the roadways throughout the immediate and surrounding areasAbility to read and understand tariff signs and signalsAbility to read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms and other related documentsBasic PC skillsGood written and verbal skillsAbility to discern numbers and informationAbility to manage deadlinesAble to use various dock equipment sucks as forklifts, pallet jacks and banding/shrink wrap and other materialsBilingual helpful: Spanish/EnglishAdditional Job Details : EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS: High School degree or equivalentMust be forklift certifiedValid driver’s license with proper class and endorsements (hazard endorsements preferred) issued by the driver’s home state of residenceAcceptable driving record as defined by DOT/TSA regulationsMust meet physical requirements established by the DOT and have or be able to provide a valid medical cardEXPERIENCE: Minimum of one-year verifiable driving experience in the industry and in the type of vehicle that will be drivenMust be at least 25 years of agePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Positionrequires employee to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, use hands, reach, bend and liftobjects above their head. Employee must be able to regularly lift/move up to 50 poundsand use pallet jacks and forklifts.
