Geophysical TechnicianField Geophysicists
Geotemps, Inc. is currently recruiting for Field Geophysicists at several exploration sites in Alaska, Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona. The successful candidate must have flexibility for travel, endurance for long rotations (15+ days per rotation) and a keen sense of safety and awareness.
Job Purpose: To conduct geophysical services which assist in the detection and delineation of ore deposits. This is done through the collection and interpretation of geophysical data that either supports or contradicts geological models of the subsurface. In addition to the actual collection of data, the quality of the geophysical data must be continuously monitored to ensure quality. After collection, the data will be analyzed and converted into presentation form.
Duties:
Determine the field requirements and test instrumentation required for operational readiness
Prepare the survey site for data collection, including the layout and movement of wire/cables
Operate geophysical instrumentation
Download the data from survey instrumentation each evening
Maintain survey instrumentation each evening after acquisition
Analyze collected data and monitor quality
Update and maintain digital data base of the geophysical data
Processes and interprets data on site in conjunction with head office direction
Intermittently, because of field interpretation, there may be a requirement to make changes to the survey
Communicate with the corporate team regularly
Communicate and train local workers to perform specific tasks and assist with the execution of a survey
The most senior Geophysical Technician/Field Geophysicist on site will have the additional responsibilities:
Organizes and direct the survey work
Controls field expenses
Documents field work and provide head office with documents required (packing list, ERP, mobilization plan, demobilization plan, logistics report, logistics memo etc.)
Requirements: A field technician/geophysicist shall have a background in the sciences with their focus of studies in geophysics, geology or a combined physics and earth/ocean sciences program or, they must demonstrate suitable experience and aptitude. An ability to travel on short notice to remote areas with hostile climates for extended periods of time is essential. The field geophysicist must be in good physical shape and possess solid social skills. In addition, the field geophysicist must possess strong leadership, problem-solving, organizational, computer, and report writing skills.

The employee is regularly required to stand, bend and twist, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, talk, hear, and reach above the shoulder with hands and arms
Physically capable of sitting or standing, shoveling, and performing other types of physical work for long periods of time
The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk and sit
Must be able to lift and carry repetitively up to 50 -lbs. through a full shift
The employee regularly performs repetitive work involving use of hands and wrists
The employee is frequently required to walk on uneven or slippery surfaces
Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Good eye-to-hand coordination is essential
Work Environment:
This work is performed in a variety of environments including shop, mining, and construction – it may include exposure to extremes including temperature, humidity, moving mechanical parts, the risk of electric shock, toxic chemicals, fumes, or airport particles

The employee may be exposed to caustic chemicals and vibration
The noise level in the work environment may be loud
The employee may be exposed to hazards inherent to surface mining and milling operations.
The employee may work in extremely hot or extremely cold, wet, or dry environmental condi- tions
