Release Manager Job Summary: As a Release Manager, you will be responsible for scheduling, planning, and controlling the software’s development and delivery process. You’ll play a leading role in fulfilling the vision and driving the implementation of our products. You’ll be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, as well as partner continuously with your many stakeholders to stay focused on common goals. Overall, this role will be concerned with planning, testing, tracking, release, deployment, communication, and risk management.
Release Manager Essential Job Functions:
Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving
Responsible for detailing the release execution plan for each product; orchestrating deployment and promoting code to production; coordinating communications regarding implementation including downtime impacts to business.
Team up with relevant development teams responsible for building the automation tools used to develop and deploy the software.
Build a team operating model that values ownership, responsibility, responsiveness, predictability, and accountability
Coach and mentor team members on agile standards and best practices (Lean, Kanban, Scrum, XP, DevOps, SAFe, LeSS, etc.)
Ensuring all team members are adhering to engineering best practices as well as enforcing DevOps policies.
Work with the scrum teams to ensure that deliverables are met and maintain proper coordination between these teams to update project related information accordingly.
Manage and mitigate risks and resolve issues regarding release quality and schedule.
Resolve inter/intra-team conflicts.
Determine release milestones across products to meet business functionality needs.
Work with App Dev teams to create build schedules for all environments.
Support engineering leadership and teams with any changes to the software delivery life cycle.
Assist with communication as necessary and coordinate with vendors where appropriate.
Escalate issues as needed, help manage risk, and drive improvement with engineering leadership, other scrum masters and other organizations as needed.
Collaborate with teams to plan releases and manage a healthy product backlog.
Lead the Go-Live activities to deploy the software successfully.
Participate in CAB meetings to discuss the release schedules with the team.
Schedule the release readiness reviews before deployment and milestone reviews after each release.
Schedule and coordinate the DB refreshes in non-prod environments.
Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.

Excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
Experience in working with DevOps and Agile methodologies including Scrum or Kanban.
Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
8+ years of IT experience, 3 or more in Project Management or Release Management.
