Job Description :
Overview:

Reports To: Loan Review Manager

Primary Functions: Works with lending staff on identification and ongoing management of troubled lending relationships. This position will also be responsible for conducting workout resolutions with members in conjunction with senior management and legal counsel where appropriate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Works one-on-one with lending officers in identification and ongoing management of troubled lending relationships.
Contacts delinquent members for payment collection on all loans that are 30 or more days past due.
Prepares and sends follow up delinquency correspondence to include payment demand and final demand letters.
The position will be charged with credit monitoring, compliance and management of triggers and alerts which occur on lending relationships within the portfolio.
Works with lending officers on completion of quarterly Loan Quality Grading Reports on all borrowers risk rated 4 or greater.
Negotiates workout plans with delinquent borrowers when necessary to include extensions and modifications, and TDR’s ensuring compliance with lending policies.
Works with legal counsel in cases of foreclosure and/or collateral repossession.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of NCUA regulations and credit union policies and procedures as they relate to collections and commercial lending in general.
Maintenance core system to reflect correct information on tracking records and processes transactions associated with loans that are in collection status or are classified.
Back up for Credit Analyst.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field

Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education: Minimum of three years experience in collection field and thorough knowledge of laws and regulations related to collections. Knowledge of judicial processes associated with commercial, personal and real property loan collection preferred.

Experience/Skills: Thorough knowledge of collection laws and other federal, state, and local laws related to delinquency control. Must have a proven ability to evaluate difficult situations and exercise good judgment. Must have good human relations skills and a strong personality to effectively handle adverse situations with the ability to resolve conflict and promote cooperation and positive morale. Must have strong communication skills, both orally and written. Background in bankruptcy, attorney referrals/inquiries and court actions preferred.

Tenure: Portfolio Manager II, Category 07, requires three years tenure in the Portfolio Manager I position with performance that meets or exceeds expectations and a promotion recommendation by the supervisor or manager. At management’s discretion, directly related work experience and/or accelerated training completion may be substituted for tenure.
