Job Description :
SkySkopes is seeking motivated and qualified UAV Pilots to support flight operations in the energy sector. Flight operations will primarily support routine and rapid response inspections for transmission and distribution fire mitigation areas. The ideal candidate will have a background in UAV operations, general aviation knowledge, demonstrate a willingness to learn, and possess a safety mindset. SkySkopes will provide travel accommodations, transportation, lodging, equipment, and paid training for this position.
The Temporary UAV Pilot primarily supports routine and rapid response inspections for our energy customers nationwide. Additional operations will include flying for surveying, conducting UAV training and consulting, and data processing. The Temporary UAV Pilot will align with SkySkopes Innovative, professional and Ethical mentality. UAV pilots may be needed for missions across the country and will need to be able to travel frequently to accomplish the mission. The Temporary UAV Pilot will report to the Assistant Operations Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Execute UAV flight operations in accordance with SkySkopes procedures
Coordinates in ground and flight operations efforts to include; planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, and safety
Perform preflight checks to assure mission readiness
Adhere to established outlined safety policies and procedures
Manage and process collected data
Assuring all equipment is; integrated, maintained, inspected
Operate various UAV Sensors
Perform minor integration and maintenance on the aircraft
Collaborate with coworkers, partners, and clients on projects
Assist with general office duties
Perform related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Working knowledge of DJI platforms; M210, Mavic 2 Pro, Inspire 2, M600
Working knowledge with various UAV cameras and sensors
Knowledge of all applicable regulations and policies governing UAV
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose minor UAV systems
Demonstrated ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures and Safety protocols
Demonstrated ability to process data and software specific to UAV
Working knowledge of FAA regulations, including part 107 regulations
Attention to detail
Good judgment with the ability to react quickly to hazards
Working knowledge of proper safety procedures
Innovative, Professional, and Ethical
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in handling sensitive company and customer information
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Ability to work in teams in various work environments
Ability to professionally interact with clients, the public, contractors, and other employees
Ability to work weekends and holidays
Effective oral/written communication skills
Proficient using office equipment and peripherals
Proficient using the most current software; Google Suite, Microsoft Office suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Education & Experience:
High school degree or equivalent
20 hours or more of commercial UAV flight experience
Current 107 Certificate
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to pass a background and drug screen
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing in outdoor environments
Ability to walk over various terrain to complete missions
Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends
Able to visually track a UAV unassisted (corrective lenses acceptable)
Able to kneel, crouch, and walk on uneven terrain
Working in various outdoor weather environments; extreme heat, cold, rain
Able to use hands and fingers to operate flight controls
Ability to maintain focus and situational awareness
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Travel:
75% travel with a minimum of 72 hours’ notice
