Job Description :
This position serves as deputy director for Michigan Rehabilitation Services within the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, Office of Employment and Training. Provides executive leadership on bureau’s complex work plan serving over 45,000 people with disabilities and over 2,500 businesses to achieve employment outcomes with over 550 FTEs direct delivering or supporting Vocational Rehabilitation-related services. This position plans, leads, and tracks current and long-range programs and deliverables in alignment with the Governor’s and Department’s strategic plans and initiatives consistent with federal, state, department, and bureau requirements. Acts on behalf of the Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) Director when appropriate. Position Description
Required Education and Experience
Education Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major. Experience Two years of professional managerial experience.
Alternate Education and Experience
Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement supervisory experience at the 14 level; or, two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement supervisory experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

Deferred Compensation Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount deducted from their paychecks. Retirement Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match up to 3%. The Office of Retirement Services administers two different retirement plans for State of Michigan employees: Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC). New hires can also receive up to a 2% employer match into a Personal Healthcare Fund and a lump-sum credit to a tax-deferred account if eligible.
