Summary
You will lead the business operations of the university’s new enterprise digital asset management system. You will work in a collaborative environment to support use of the new enterprise system across the university. You will partner with a technical team that oversees the administration and technical operations of the system. The team will serve a consultative role to the campus community and provide best practice recommendations for use of the digital asset management system. You will report to the Director of Digital Strategy in the Office of the Vice President for Communications.

Responsibilities*
Business Operations and Standards Management
Manage the business operations of the enterprise digital asset management system to ensure successful adoption by units across the university, proper maintenance, and ongoing improvements.
Lead a cross campus advisory group to set university-wide strategy and standards for digital asset management. Standards may include asset quality, metadata approach, adherence to branding guidelines, asset sharing and security rules.
Promote the agreed upon best practices and digital asset standards for the university, including the development of procedures, audit approaches, access permissions, asset accessibility, and usage approvals for assets in the system.
Contribute to the university’s reputation by determining which images are widely shared inside the university and beyond.
Manage the flow of digital assets through the enterprise digital asset management system and archival processes.
Develop solutions for content issues and for preservation of metadata.
Design and market training and materials that will benefit those in the university’s digital asset management community. Schedule group and individual training sessions.
Collaboration
Partner with the technical team that administers and operates the enterprise digital asset management system for the university including: (1) the management of retention periods and processes for maintaining data quality and storage quotas/expense; (2) training on the digital asset management system and the development of training materials.
Collaborate with and guide units across the university in best practices for digital asset management, ensuring data quality through agreed upon standards, and the proper use of the enterprise digital asset management system.
Build trusted relationships with staff across the university with dozens of units, multiple campuses, and a health system.
Industry Knowledge
Maintain knowledge of university, municipal and state programs that affect electronic records and digital assets.
Stay current in the field of digital asset management through training, monitoring professional forums and websites, attending conferences and workshops, and collaborating with photo and video experts.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years relevant experience or equivalent professional experience.
Experience using a digital asset management system to find and store digital assets.
Progressively responsible experience working with and collaborating on digital assets as part of a large organization.
Experience with photo and video industry-standard methodologies in cataloging, metadata, records management, and asset management. Understanding of techniques for organizing digital assets from a variety of internal and external sources
Knowledge of print and digital production processes and file development.
In-depth knowledge of current trends in digital capture, asset preservation, categorization and distribution of still and moving images.
Familiar with digital asset management system metrics to report on use or throughput.
Demonstrated skill at developing relationships, building trust, and partnering with a variety of departments
Desired Qualifications*
Experience in the production and asset management of short- and long-form video.
Experience administering digital asset management systems.
Experience documenting and rolling out new processes, standards, and workflows
Digital imagery subject matter expertise.
Work Locations
Ann Arbor campus location. This job is eligible for flexible hybrid arrangement with a combination of in-office and remote work.
