Summary
The University of Michigan School of Social Work (SSW) seeks to develop a more equitable, caring, and socially just society. Reporting to the Director of Online Programs, the Online MSW Program Manager provides outstanding program management for all administrative aspects of the online MSW. The role collaborates with the Director of Online Program, SSW faculty leads, Office of Student Services (OSS) staff, Office of Field Education (OFE) staff, SSW Information Technology staff as well as other internal and external University partners to provide outstanding program management for the online SSW program. The primary focus of this position is to ensure excellent customer service and quality program management to ensure a first-class educational experience for students. The ability to develop and maintain complex relationships, manage organizational support, and provide project management is essential in this role. Ideal candidates actively embrace challenges, thrive on solving tough problems, demonstrate passion about improving access and digital education, have experience providing top-quality customer service and support for students, and enjoy working within a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
Responsibilities*
Program Management: Implement activities for program goals and objectives in collaboration with staff and faculty administrative leads for the MSW program (online and residential); develop surveys and systems for evaluating progress toward academic and educational outcomes. Monitor adherence to accreditation requirements; generate data for accreditation reporting, as well as other internal and external progress reporting. Analyze enrollment trends and advise on curricular changes/planning efforts. Advise on student assessment efforts; interpret results to reach strategic vision of the program including curriculum requirements, program structure, and academic policies. Assist IT team with organization and administration of online program related Canvas course sites and assessments. Assist Student Services in monitoring MasterTrack certificate progress and provide outreach to students entering the online MSW program.
Program Development: Assist with coordination of the development of online degree courses, including but not limited to: working with faculty and learning-design teams to ensure scheduling and quality of online classes, working with OSS and program leadership to plan on-campus and virtual events in support of the program, working with the technology team to ensure technology and online resources are meeting student learning needs. Ability to learn and move between different technologies to accomplish program objectives. Ability to analyze features of existing technologies and research new technologies to improve the student experience and ensure best practices are followed related to online pedagogy and program administration.
Student Services and Community Building: Address and coordinate online student services across different SSW offices. Triage online student service and communication tasks working with Student Services, Field Education, and other administrative units. Work with the Office of Student Services to ensure students have access to relevant academic and wellness resources across campus. Assist with in-person and online orientation planning and other community building events for online students. Provide curriculum advising and planning resources. Assist faculty with concerns about student progress or performance.
Required Qualifications*
Master’s degree and 3 or more years of related experience in academic program support.
Successful track record of managing programs with multiple projects and stakeholders systematically with positive results.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals and groups at all multiple levels of leadership and ability to manage collaborative partnerships.
Expertise with project management tools and software to manage timelines and deliverables.
Demonstrated initiative, independent judgment, diplomacy, and service-oriented attitude.
Enthusiasm for technology-enhanced learning in the context of a public residential research university.
Passion for the field of social work and improving access to an affordable education at the U-M School of Social Work.
Desired Qualifications*
Master’s degree in Social Work strongly preferred.
Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas.
Experience with digital platforms to foster and build community.
Experience with online instruction and technology-enhanced learning.
Skills in digital accessibility.
Experience or degree in social work preferred.
