Our Shipping Clerk processes all types of orders, including common carrier freight, for shipping. Orders would include but are not limited to, filters, parts, complete systems, tubing, and customer returns. This position includes pick, pack and shipment of all orders accurately, according to the guidelines.
QED Environmental Systems, a Graco Inc. company, is located in Dexter, Michigan, just west of Ann Arbor. QED is the leading manufacturer of innovative environmental products. For over 30 years their expertise has included Pumping Systems, Landfill Products, and Air Strippers.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pick, pack, and ship orders according to shipping guidelines (e.g. to prevent damage during delivery). This is not limited to “Off the Shelf” orders, but could also include fully assembled pump orders and tubing
Must be able to become proficient using all shipping applications, processes, and software including the shipping app for pick, pack, and shipping
Responsible for the accuracy and on time shipment of customers’ orders
Responsible for picking, packing, and shipping future orders as directed by manager
Responsible for the team metric of shipping all orders scheduled for the day they are due
Responsible for packing orders in such a fashion that they arrive in perfect condition
Conduct cycle counts of finished goods and tubing inventory on a regular basis
Prepare freight estimates for domestic and international shipments
Schedule freight to be picked up from common carriers as well as small package couriers
Manage the UPS and FedEx computer manifest systems. This would include updating databases as needed as well as inputting daily information for shipment processing
Maintain and update various databases related to the shipping department
Completely and accurately process any documentation associated with shipping domestic and international packages. These might include documents such as HAZMAT, SED, and Commercial Invoices
Communication to customers (internal and external) about problems or issues related to shipping is essential.
Ability to use pallet jack to move, pick, pack, and load inventory/orders from racking including loading pallets on semi-trucks
Must have excellent time management skills
Work as a team player
Maintain a safe and clean work environment
Assist in other departments as needed
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND PREREQUISITES:
Previous shipping experience preferred
Computer knowledge with Microsoft products, Internet usage, and shipping manifests required
Ability to function accurately and safely in a fast paced environment
Must be able to complete tasks on short notice as well as ability to change “gears” quickly
Have the ability to be trained and certified in HAZMAT shipping procedures
Have the ability to be trained in forklift/HiLo usage and safety, as well as other safety programs
NORMAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to lift >50 pounds on an infrequent basis (no more than 4-5 hours a day)
Ability to stand for 8 hours
Ability to walk extensively in the course of an 8 hour day
Repetitive bending and twisting up to 90 degrees
Lifting and reaching to all levels
Ability to climb rolling ladder
Correctable vision
